collection on view

I have spent the last few days installing a collection of my photographs in the Duchess Gallery at Kielder Castle. Most of the pictures show Northumberland from a variety of angles and through the seasons. There are a couple from visits to London that I think people might find interesting but the subject that inspires me most is on my doorstep. Having said that there are a few darker images among the glorious landscapes. 'One more going nowhere' shows the interior of a derelict farmhouse and can be viewed on this site in my art section under a similar title and english summer is available in the nature section. They may not show Northumberland at its most beautiful but I am attracted to these images and it is all up to the individuals taste.

I have included several winter photographs. Almost everywhere around Bellingham and in Northumberland in general looked like a christmas card but when the sun shone on the snow the whole landscape seemed to have a magical feel about it and I was lucky enough to be here with my camera to capture it.

Alongside these images my favourite is a simple picture taken in a forest with the shadows of the trees trailing across the grass. I have called it Comfort Zone as this is where I feel most at peace. This picture makes me want to step into it and I am fortunate enough to be able to on a regular basis as it was taken only a few miles from my house.

I hope you can come a view my pictures at Kielder but if not I will be adding those not already in the website very soon.

About Gary

I have been taking photographs for a number of years and have provided images for individuals and families as well as for business use. I have worked in promotional photography in the theatre and taken portraits and headshots for actors. As well as covering festivals and competitions I am happy to accompany dog owners on walks in Northumberland to get a picture of their pet in a natural setting and have been known to follow a cat around a garden to catch it in the right light.

In addition to taking photographs I spend some of my time acting. In the past I have managed bands and community arts projects and taught classes in IT, Arts Management and acting.  I have worked with men in prison covering subjects such as relationship management and drug awareness. I learned a great deal from all of these experiences and discovered that teaching is as much about listening as it is passing on information. The photography courses I run are for beginners who want to get started with digital cameras and programs and if you would like to have a chat then please give me a ring.

I hope you like the pictures I have featured on the site. Please feel free to drop me a line through the get in touch link above it's always nice to hear from people.
